Individual Tooth Replacement Solutions

What Are Single Tooth Dental Implants?

A single tooth dental implant replaces one missing tooth with a titanium post that’s surgically placed into your jawbone and topped with a custom crown. This treatment provides the most natural replacement for a lost tooth, restoring both the visible crown and the root structure beneath your gum line. Canyon Rim Dental in Salt Lake City specializes in single tooth implants that look, feel, and function exactly like your natural teeth.

Unlike bridges that require altering adjacent healthy teeth, a single implant stands independently and doesn’t affect your surrounding teeth. The titanium post fuses with your jawbone over time, creating a permanent foundation that prevents bone loss and maintains your facial structure.

Your Single Tooth Solution Explained

Who Are Single Tooth Dental Implants For?

Losing a single tooth is more common than you might think, and you don’t have to live with an embarrassing gap or uncomfortable partial denture. You might be perfect for a single tooth dental implant if you want the most natural, permanent replacement that functions exactly like your original tooth.

Single Missing Tooth

You've lost one tooth due to injury, decay, or extraction and want a permanent replacement that doesn't affect your surrounding healthy teeth like bridges do.

Failed Root Canal or Crown

Your tooth can't be saved with additional treatment, and you need extraction followed by the best possible replacement that will last for decades.

Avoiding Removable Options

You don't want a partial denture that clips onto other teeth or comes out for cleaning, preferring a fixed solution that feels completely natural.

Replace One Missing Tooth

Our Single Tooth Dental Implants Process

A single dental implant permanently replaces your missing tooth with a solution that looks and functions naturally. Here’s how we restore your complete smile with one precision-placed implant.
1

Implant Site Preparation

We carefully evaluate your jawbone density and gum health to ensure optimal conditions for implant placement. If needed, we perform bone grafting or other preparatory treatments in-house to create the ideal foundation for your new tooth.
2

Precise Implant Placement

Using computer-guided surgery, we place your titanium implant post exactly where your natural tooth root once was. This advanced technology ensures perfect positioning for both function and aesthetics while your implant integrates with your natural bone over the following months.
3

Custom Crown Attachment

Once your implant has fully bonded with your jawbone, we attach a custom-designed crown that matches your surrounding teeth perfectly. The result is a permanent replacement that looks, feels, and functions exactly like your original tooth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Single Tooth Dental Implants FAQs

Single tooth implants provide the most natural replacement for missing teeth by replacing both root and crown.
At Canyon Rim Dental, you’ll receive expertly placed implants that restore your smile’s function and appearance permanently.

What is a single tooth dental implant?

A single tooth implant consists of three parts: a titanium post surgically placed into your jawbone to replace the tooth root, an abutment that connects the post to the restoration, and a custom crown that looks and functions like your natural tooth. This complete replacement provides the most natural solution for single missing teeth.
Unlike bridges that require grinding down adjacent healthy teeth for support, single tooth implants preserve your neighboring teeth completely. Implants also replace the tooth root, helping maintain jawbone density and preventing bone loss. They’re easier to clean, don’t put stress on other teeth, and typically last longer than bridges.
Most people with good overall health and adequate jawbone density make excellent candidates for single tooth implants. You need healthy gums and sufficient bone to support the implant. Even if your bone needs augmentation, we often provide bone grafts and other preparatory treatments in-house to help you qualify for implant treatment.
The complete process typically takes 3-6 months from implant placement to final crown. After placing the implant, you’ll need 3-4 months for osseointegration (bone healing around the implant). Once healed, we’ll attach the abutment and place your custom crown. The actual surgical appointment usually takes about an hour.
We’ll ensure you’re never without a tooth in visible areas. Depending on your situation, we can provide a temporary removable partial denture, a temporary bridge, or in some cases, a temporary crown on the implant. We’ll discuss the best temporary solution for your specific case during treatment planning.
Most patients report that implant placement is much more comfortable than expected. We use local anesthesia to numb the area completely, and many patients experience minimal discomfort afterward. Any post-surgical discomfort is typically mild and easily managed with over-the-counter pain medication. Most people return to normal activities within a day or two.
Caring for your implant is just like caring for a natural tooth. Brush twice daily, floss around the implant crown, and maintain regular dental checkups and cleanings. The implant crown can’t get cavities, but you still need to keep the gums healthy around it. Good oral hygiene ensures your implant lasts for decades.
Single tooth implants have excellent success rates, typically above 95%. Success depends on factors like your overall health, bone quality, oral hygiene, and smoking status. With proper care and regular maintenance, most single tooth implants last 25 years or longer, making them an outstanding long-term investment in your oral health.
While implant failure is rare, it can occur due to infection, insufficient bone integration, excessive force, or poor oral hygiene. Early failure usually happens within the first few months, while later failure is often related to gum disease around the implant. Following post-operative instructions and maintaining excellent oral hygiene minimize these risks significantly.
Single tooth implant costs vary based on your specific needs and any preparatory treatments required. While implants cost more initially than other options, they often provide better long-term value due to their durability and the fact that they preserve adjacent teeth. We’ll provide detailed cost estimates and discuss insurance coverage and financing options during your consultation.

They were amazing for me as a new patient! Staff were very warm and friendly and clear with communication. They have an intake survey that asks what they can do to make dental work more comfortable for you and your level of dental anxiety, which is awesome! I’m very glad to have found this place 🙂

I loved all of the staff. There were very kind and understanding. They let me know in details that I could understand as well as answered various questions I had. It had been at least two years since seeing a dentist and I was looking for one I could see since I got a new insurance. I also went in for a suspected cavity I may have had due to some pain that I was having for over a month. They checked as well as told me I needed to have a root canal procedure. They told me after they got some of it done that they still have some more time for me to finish the temporary crown until the final part. I really appreciate this

I have been a terrible adult and neglected finding a dentist since I left the Kent, WA area in 2016 (don’t tell my wonderful dentist there he would be so disappointed in me) Shor story is it’s now 2025 and I wish I would have search sooner. DR. SAM DELAHUNTY performed a what felt to me like a complex root canal therapy for me today in not only a professional manner and expedient manner but also with kindness and care that you really want when people are drilling around sensitive nerves. He answered any questions I had and even followed up later with me in the evening. I have plenty more work for their team ( don’t neglect your teeth cleanings kids) and i am nothing but excited to return for the offices services. I wish i would have caught the names of all the staff in the office they are always so friendly. Cannot recommend this office more.
